Does it make a difference if the flowers are still blooming or if they have stopped and will form a seed pod soon? I'd assume that if they're still flowering that the pedicels would be more nutritious and last longer. But, you know what they say about assuming 😉

I've got 8 small cats in the enclosure now. I'll put some pedicels in with them tomorrow.

"...blooming or ...seed pod" I do not sacrifice flowers that are drinkable by adults unless caterpillar food scarcity is dire. I take pedicels as soon as flowers fold, because most pedicels soon fall; also to get them before pods, because flower production declines during pod growth. If I want seeds, then I allow one pod on any given plant: I monitor the pods-in-formation, leave the one most robust, the rest go to caterpillars. Note that fresh pods of all sizes also are delectable food for caterpillars of corresponding capability.
