Well that Knapp joint puts it clearly as a factory made piece between 1871 and 1900.
And it appears to be walnut.
But I think it's a married piece. The top drawer of a chest attached to legs from a table...perhaps with a ruined top.
And the pull looks like it may be new.....too crisp and too dark. They sell walnut replacement hand carved fruit pulls.....and the underside of the drawer does not look like the underside of the drawer that would have been on a walnut piece like that.

I think it's a beat up walnut small chest or commode with a broken walnut pull but a good top and a side table with a ruined top. the top of the chest removed the bottom of the drawer replaced and the legs attached and a new pull added.
What does the inside of the drawer where the pull is attached look like?
Also the way the legs are attached is suspect....appears to be glued no reinforcement...usually the legs would be continuous with the corners of the top.

I'll go look at the inside of the drawer next time I'm upstairs and let you know -- I knew you would know -- it is an odd little table -- that it is but actually PERFECT for what's Im using it or.

Looks like it would be a great little sewing table....
and as an old Swede I knew used to say "for free, take. for buy waste time."

And believe it or not, that's what I'm using it for -- a sewing table! Let me know what you think. I DO think that you're right. That was one thing that seemed "odd" to me -- the top and drawer didn't really fit the bottom.

I think it originally had a different pull....something round and simple. That drawer front was finished before the pull was added.
Be careful when you move it.....legs attached like that can be wobbley.
