Mulch options for terrace containers... Which is best?

Hello, i m preparing containers (pots) to grow vegetables in my terrace. It is usually very sunny and also very windy. That combination dries everything. So i need to keep the soil (coco+perlite+wormcast) insulated. Options in my hand are mulch (bark) , dolomite, lava rock. But all three have advantages and disadvantages as i see. Mulch is too light, so the wind may keep scattering it im afraid. But it is the most neutral option. Lava is a good option that also adds nutrients but both mulch and lava is too dark so it will raise the heat around. Dolomite also has a nutrient advantage, doesnt heat the soil, and it may even reflect the sunlight to the plant from reverse directions. But it is too heavy to order in large quantities, and i dont really trust which white pebbles are really pure dolomite and which are just pebbles for decoration, even with unnatural additives, which i dont want to include in any way. Or should i give up overthinking and mix them all together? Any ideas?

Thanks.
