Easter has Exploded at my House!

DD is home for Easter for the first time in 7 years. First away out of state for college, and then grad school. This year, with many working from home due to the CV, DD was able to drive home here from Colorado and work from here, via something like Facetime for businesses. And then just this morning, she decided to get down and unpack all 5 large boxes of Easter decs that I haven't used since her senior year of high school! OMG, what was I thinking back when our kids were small! Thank goodness I threw the Easter tree out 7 years ago (just an apple tree branch painted white and stood upright in a can of plaster)! This is only half of the decs, as there are wreaths, and Easter tree ornaments, still all over my kitchen counters to be hung up (wreaths) or packed back away! Part of me is happy to be able to give her this holiday at home, but the other part of me is feeling like a huge Easter Scrooge having to deal with all this clutter and stuff! And, of course, once it was all unpacked and cooed over, she had to go back into our private study to counsel more clients!

Wow!! I have to say I don't own a single Easter decoration.

I used to have some decorations, but nothing like that! I’m thinking I should put a bow on the stone bunny out front.

OMG! If things ever get back to normal you might decide to cull the stash. Or better yet, give it all to your daughter.

I have 3 rabbits on the kitchen windowsill and another on the hutch. A carrot wreath, made of pinecones, on the inside of the front door. Oh, and a stuffed bunny in the picture window for the little kids passing by. It was supposed to be a bear, but I figured the rabbit was a better fit for this time of year.

Lynn—-It’s just me and DH but you inspired me. Might have DH find the few Easter decs I still have tomorrow. We were just talking about what to have for Easter dinner from what we have on hand—-looks like it will be steaks on the grill this year. Love all your decorations. And how nice to have your daughter home.

    Wow, it sure has, Lynn!

    Love! Love! Love!

Wow! That is super impressive, Lynn! Nothing here to photograph. We'll be celebrating a belated, virtual (Zoom) Passover seder on Saturday night with about 15 family members. I grew up in a mixed religion household, so we always celebrated Easter as well. Sadly no Cadbury eggs in the house this year <----I really dropped the ball on that one.

What a great opportunity to enjoy the decorations one last time before donating them (if you want to) and leaving your life a little lighter.

bbstx, it does kind of look like you duct taped the bunny's mouth! ;-)

Ah, @chispa, a shot to the heart! 😂

Not judging you ... maybe bunny knows where you hid that secret quarantine Easter chocolate stash from the rest of the family and needed to be silenced! 🤐 😄

We go all out for all the holidays. For Easter we have 5 large totes and a 90 gallon trash container filled with items for inside. Outside we have so many porch sitters, things that light up. We never got some of them plugged in this year, just couldn't get in the mood I guess. Anyway it will take about 6 hours to get everything down so something to do on another stay at home weekend.

Gosh, Lynn, you are an Easter machine!

i am ready for our Easter breakfast. The vintage look postcards will have notes to each person instead of cards.

The sideboard holds selected items from my mercifully brief glitter period....

It's funny, we always did Easter when I was a kid with the Easter baskets and Easter bunny. But as an adult I belong to a church choir, and Holy Week is super busy, and Easter morning is about singing at Easter Service. So I never did any of that stuff with my daughter. Which is not to say that we don't enjoy our Cadbury mini eggs (we definitely do), but there's no tradition around them; it's just that they are only available seasonally.

Well, I hope that you all got a good laugh or at least a smile out of seeing the craziness of Easter decs exploding all over our place. I did end up getting them placed a bit here and there which, I admit, does look very festive, although more than a bit busy (LOL)! DD heads back to her own place on Monday morning and will continue to counsel her clients online from her own apartment. I'm trying to talk her into taking at least some of them with her. The problem is that she doesn't have much storage space in her apartment. She's inherited my love of interior design and of decorating for holidays, and that hasn't left her with very much extra storage space . . . for the time being. And, while my DIL has a degree in interior design, they live too far away to ship decorations. Someday, though!

Arcy: you have wonderful Easter decorations, how pretty! This is the first time I've ever seen a three dimensional scene of the crucifixion! I had no idea that was out there!

Cawaps: It sounds like you stay really busy throughout this season, though!

KSWL: what a pretty Easter table you have! I love the idea of using the vintage-looking postcards!

Lonestar: OMG, well I'm in good company with you and holiday decorating!!! Christmas is still my biggest decorating season. It used to be followed closely by Halloween but, like Easter, I've backed off a lot in recent years. You'll have to share some of your various holiday decs with us as each season approaches.

BBSTX: that is soooo funny . . . I love it!!!

    Chispa: LOL!!!

Fun: I know! Part of me really wants to donate a lot of them. I did that a couple of years ago with many Christmas decs. DD will be moving into a much larger apartment at the end of May. If she can't take more then, I probably will. I have no desire to have this many Easter decs cluttering up our house again next year!

Jojo: Our DIL is Jewish and they celebrate both Passover and Easter, as well. I wish both to be meaningful and happy for you this year!

    Zalco: thank you :~ )

Nutsaboutplants: yep, you said it (LOL)!

Joanie: that's what we're having for Easter dinner, too! Steaks out on the grill, fresh asparagus, risotto and a nice bottle of wine. Happy Easter!

Zinnia: that sounds like a nice amount of decs. And your Easter wreath is wonderful!!!! Thank you for sharing that with us all!

Detired: good idea! I usually put a bow on my 5' tall Native American shaman statue and on my Mexican goat pot out front, but completely forgot them both this year!

3Katz: not even one? Well, I sure can envy you right about now (LOL)!

Well, whether you celebrate Easter or Passover or not, I wish you all a very happy and beautiful holiday weekend. Stay safe! Stay healthy!

No explosion here but I must say Lynn and everyone your decorations are so pretty. Thanks for sharing and not giving up on your holiday decor.

    Not so busy this year...
