I love the natural wood, it’s very nice. I think it lends itself to somewhat of a nautical/boat feel.

Might be awkwardly red on that floor -- not quite enough contrast to look intentional. Probably I'd paint them. Maybe a sunny light green, to go with your bedding?

Headboards aren't as red as they appear in the photo. We pulled back some of the floor paper and they contrast nicely. I had planned to paint the nightstand table a bright green. It seems we are on the same wavelength.

I’m the odd man out as I would paint them a shade of green in your fabric and if you use chalk paint, you don’t have to sand. I like the lightness for a cottage and creating a contrast to the floor.

If you can't decide now, leave them. You can always paint them later if you don't like the space when it is actually finished with everything in place.

I too think painted is more appropriate in this setting. The dark ..even matching the floor ..is too conventional for this airy space

The headboards are beautiful. Don’t paint them. They are similar to the floor color, yes, but remember that the beds and your bedding will be in front of the headboards, so you will not see brown upon brown. I would look for dressers or nightstands you can paint in one of the green tones, and perhaps a casual braided rag rug or runner in green, white and a little brown among the colors.

Good thought regarding the bedcovers masking the floor. Dash & Albert have beautiful bright green rugs. Thinking a runner between the beds or 2 small mats if I position the beds differently. I'm excited to get in there and start decorating.

I agree with felizlady, when you get your bedding on and pillows it will look a lot different, I can’t understand spending that money on something new to then paint them

I am a big “paint the furniture” person but I would NOT paint those! As said above, put them in as is, use bedding, rugs and a cute painted set of night stands with colorful lamps BEFORE painting. Repost and let’s all see how they look. They’re really, really nice as is.

What a fun project. Love everything. Don’t paint headboards. It will add warmth and curated feeling so perfect in this type setting. The bright green will be the pop you will love. Can’t wait to see completed.

Thank you Everyone! I appreciate your help with my decision. I'll wait until everything is in place to determine whether the headboards need to be painted. In the meantime, I'm scouting around online for posters of wooden boats (thx. Linda Dornan). They are very popular on these lakes. Purchased this small green lamp (Kate Spade) for the bedside table.

Flo, I used the same white as I did throughout the cottage -- C2 Paint and the colour is America's Cup. The walls throughout are shiplap. Thank you for your help; this isn't the first time you have come to my rescue.
