My Annas are also red, but that is normal for us. Our mature Anna has always started with red fruit, they have never looked like your second picture. We are in Santa Barbara, 1/3 mile from the coast. We bought a new 5 in 1 bareroot apple tree in January and planted it in a large pot. I was surprised to see the anna branch already has small fruit.
