Happy Easter everyone! How is everybody doing, and how are your trees?

I hope this post finds everyone well, and most importantly, HEALTHY! I am praying for no-one to catch the dreaded Coronavirus, and for the country to leave this dark cloud behind and get back on its feet, sooner rather than later.

.

Easter will be a little subdued, this year, since we can't be with our extended family, or go attend the service, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to cook up a feast (you know me, lol). I couldn't find any leg of lamb, but I did manage to get a couple of nice racks of lamb, so that'll have to do!

.

I'm a little sad we won't go to church, but I've always believed God is in our hearts whether we are in His house, or not. We'll just watch the service online, this year.

.

My trees are absolutely out of control. The mutant (on the right) that I trimmed to the bone last fall after that INCREDIBLE harvest is twice as big as before the trim.

.

And the smaller tree, that I was affectionately calling "the runt" (on the left), got caught with a bit of over and over blooming fever earlier this winter, to the point I started to be afraid of it dying from it. I pruned it VERY severely, to try to snap it out of the vicious circle. I didn't know what else to do. It was truly sad to see it so bare. Thankfully, it worked, and it has regrown so well it now looks twice as furnished and healthy as it did before the winter.

.

It's still a little too cold to take them out, in Maryland. They are used to temps in the 68-72 in te house, and we still have nights in the 40s. Hopefully, within a couple weeks, I'll be able to take them out and reclaim my dining room.

.

Because of the quarantine, I've also been dabbling in growing our own lettuce (buttercrunch and romaine) using the Krakty hydroponic method. We're still a couple of weeks away from our first harvest, but it's looking promising! I wanted to start growing tomatoes, as well, but honestly I didn't have the money needed for the setup (containers, etc). Maybe next month, after we get the stimulus check.

.

I can't wait to see your trees, and to hear from you all.

God bless,

Atheen! Your trees are so gorgeous! I can’t wait to move my trees outside too!

Atheen, Happy Easter, and stay well! Your trees looks great. I think the weather fluctuations are not as bad here in Annapolis, although my trees have been through some cold nights. Regardless, they are happy and sprouting. I'm thrilled to have them out of the house :). Stay healthy everyone!

Belated Happy Easter. Just watched the local news... snow in Shenandoah and the models say maybe a sprinkle towards DC. I think the Easter Bunny and Punxsutawney Phil better get things ironed out. All my trees are out and I'm hoping the 36-37 is the low that comes overnight and the next few days.

Thanks, Mike. You too. I'm envious of the snow everyone keeps getting.

Getting stir crazy. And now the weather forecast says possible to 34 tonight. Don't think i'm pulling anything back inside. Frost roulette.

Jan, glad you're doing well! I hear you about baking supplies... I'm glad I had huge pantry reserves when this craziness started. The trees are looking like they're as giddy about the prospect of going outside than I am to put them there, LOL!

I'm very new to hydroponics. The Krakty method just seemed the easiest one to set up, no air pump or anything. I ordered 2 hexagonal planters from gogrowplanters. I got them from Amazon because I have prime, so shipping is quick and free. I called customer service on he gogrowplanters website, and the lady, Cindy, is absolutely phenomenal. She explained everything.

Amy, I hear you! I feel like I'm sharing my house with 2 mutants, lol.

Laura, great to hear from you! Yes, I've noticed you typically don't have as many high and lows in Annapolis than I do in Havre de Grace, although we're not even two hours apart.

Ken, glad you're doing well. Your post brought back flashbacks of groundhog day, and you made me laugh out loud with the frost roulette, LOL !

Mike, it's so good to hear from you! I hope you feel better, and that your mom is ok! I know with absolute certainty that my trees would have been rotted dead 5 years ago, if it hadn't been for you, your UNWAVERING patience and all your kind advice. I'm very proud to consider you my friend.

To each and every one of you, gimme pictures! Let us all live and travel vicariously though everyone else's pictures, LOL!

Hopefully this won't last very much longer. It looks like they really want to open the country back up. Fingers crossed!

    God bless,

    Atheen

PS: I got my Covid stimulus direct deposit yesterday. Make sure you check whatever bank account you have the IRS to wire your tax refund to the last 2 years, and if you never gave them one, make sure you go to https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus-tax-relief-and-economic-impact-payments and put your back account in there!
