Fam Room Layout Ideas

We have a great room (super views, open) but frustrated by how we have laid out, how to decorate. Love your ideas. Thinking about a sectional, a recliner or two. Like the rattan chair. Need smarter effective lighting.

Would you consider putting the TV above the fireplace?

We use gas in the fireplace - wondering if too warm for electronics?

Gas is not a problem, nor is a wood burning fireplace. Mounting the TV above will allow for more options in furniture arrangement, however I'm not sure what is going on with the vertical brick.

Vertical brick is for non functioning heatilator. Personally think mantel with TV above could be good.

I think that the TV placement is fine. But this big space feels like it could justify a larger couch, and the table behind the sofa seems to be adding more jumble than utility or elegance here (especially being higher than the back of the couch itself).

Is the gray a carpet or a very large rug? I feel like in such an open space you could use an area rug to help ground and unify the seating arrangement. I also might consider replacing the dresser with an end table that would provide reading light at a more reasonable height.

Unlikely you'll be able to match the rattan chair with another one. How about using it in the master bedroom? Otherwise, I don't see any furniture or lamps I'd keep in this space. Are there some upper windows on the pool side of the room that we're not seeing in your photos?

Consider this: In my opinion, sectionals may be nice when you have young children that like to cuddle when watching tv; but they're not ideal for having a conversation area for adults. Having a sofa and a couple of chairs also gives more options for arranging a room.

You say that you have a super view. Are you referring to the pool? Besides the fireplace and tv, is that something that you would like to be a focus?

Open to getting rid of all the furniture. Rattan Chair can indeed go in Master Bedroom or my home office.

You can't go wrong with a 3-seat sofa and a pair of chairs. Loungers today can look quite sleek and modern to work well with your home. What price point do you want?

Are you buying new furniture? If so, L shaped sectional. Short side facing the fireplace, long side on the right of fireplace. Angle tv more in that corner. Square sized coffee table in middle, couple of small sized chairs in front of window and maybe a small accent table as space allows.

Or if a sectional isn't your favorite option, you could do a couch on the left and right side of the fire place, two small accent chairs in front of fireplace (with accent table in between) and a coffee table in the middle of the couches. Tv could stay where it's at I think.
