Master bedroom inspiration

Hi! We have been on our home for just over a year and finally ready to start our master bdrm makeover.

Looking for help with some art for color inspiration. We like abstract and are thinking of maybe a blue/grey scheme if it isn't to boring or dark. Any thoughts on where to start? New paint color, art, curtains and bedding all at reasonable prices?

I am attaching some pictures. We hate the green color and I plan to move the dresser to the only other open wall to allow us to put the art between the 2 windows. Thanks so much!

I like your room's 'bones'. You've got some great architectural details in the crown molding, the white doors with black hardware. Taking an inspiration from those details in your room, here are my thoughts and suggestions for you. Paint the walls a medium tone of grey that is complimentary to your bed and dresser. If you like this idea - consider the ceiling in a shade lighter. If I'm understanding the 'alcove' behind your headboard - consider that in a deeper tone of grey - sort of shades of graphite - really silvery bluish grey. Then, consider rich deep plums with linen taupe colors for your accent pieces (artwork, drape panels, shams, pillows, etc.) I agree with your idea of the artwork between the two narrow windows. Good luck !!

Thank you. That is an interesting color palette to work with. Hadn't thought about the ceiling either. Thanks for the suggestions. I have found it really hard to find a way to get started so I knew I should start here!

I second that idea. First color scheme that came to mind.you might even consider a pearlescent lighter gray for the ceiling. I saw that done in a room with similar architectural details and it was stunning.

I would choose your art first so you can bring in your accents. I am partial to neutral bedding with pops of color.

I am primarily an abstract artist....you are welcome to look over my portfolio and request that I Photoshop work into your space. Depending on the piece....for prints I can sometimes get really nice discounts for you.

Paint a dove gray. Add darker gray panels to whole wall floor to ceiling. Move bed to hall. Dresser to bed area now, center on wall. Remove mirror and add 40 x40 art no frame bold colors contemporary, above dresser. If room on side ad a big palm. On slider add same panels as wall. Put on brush nickel rings so you can open and close with ease. Bedding stay in the gray and black design maybe a pop of color like yellow. What's on floors? Add big tall lamps in silver and black shades. Use mirrored big tall chest type night stands.

Like the idea of a large art piece in between the windows where the dresser is. Be sure to allow room for a upholstered bench or ottomans under the artwork. It will not only give you a place to put shoes on, but will soften up the room a bit and lend a little sophistication.

Kelly, you always come though, love the lux gray has a green undertone. Love the gray with yellow in pillow. Always a nice surprise, some yellow , big right now with all the grays.

Thanks everyone. Love the suggestions! Wish I could move my bed between the 2 windows but our king size doesn't fit and downgrading to a queen could cause quite a fussy with my hubby and 2 small kiddos (2,3). We need ever inch we have!
I'll try z galleries and look thru Ballard designs for a great piece of art. Let you know what I find!

Find your art first, then your bedding, before you decide on wall colors.

Lighting can also make the space! Consider replacing the fan with a cool light fixture. Staying in your silver family would accent the suggestions for grey walls and look great against the dark furniture.

You could start your palette with a rug to pull half way under the bed too.
