Feature/accent walls

What kinds of materials or design ideas are good for dressing up an island wall? 4+ barstools will eventually fit under this tiered area that is currently just drywall and orange peel textured. Wallpaper, paint, shiplap... I mean really, there has to be more than just shiplap! Got any pictures to broaden my horizons?

Have you considered stenciling? It would be fairly easy and cost effective, and not permanent if you tire of it.

Tiling seems to be a pretty popular treatment too.

Not sure how these would work with your setup, but might spark your creativity.
