Adam, they're looking good. I saw some wonderful roses in Esperance and Condingup last year. I'm amazed they can grow so well in sand.

I have read in depth so much about the exceptional Mons Tillier , but never bought one. He would be in my dream garden. Think I'll go research him some more.

I know you don't have to worry about his hardiness, but here he's one of my hardiest teas. And I love the copper/brick glow he gets here in cooler weather. He's not the flashiest tea rose, but he's a handsome workhorse, for sure. He definitely is one of the "blooming-est" of my teas.

Coming along beautifully! I found that mine took a couple of years to get going, so perhaps this is common.

Adam, does your Monsieur Tillier happen to have rough canes. I'm trying to figure out whether my mystery rose is MT or General Schablikine. Apparently one has smooth canes (which mine does) and one has rough ones, but Nik in Greece didn't know which was which. Would you kindly feel up your MT and report back?

Thank you, Adam. Your pictures would have been helpful if MT and GS had significant differences, but apparently they don't. Not surprising since both stem from Safrano a fleurs pourpre. However, I see the blooms on your bush are quite upright, while on my plant they are leaners and floppers. So, you have helped, I just should have looked more closely at your earlier pictures.

Adam, do you see the new growth as red on your MT? Mine is quite red, but yours looks much more green. I can’t get a full bush shot right now since it’s half shade half sun, but here is a candelabra spray showing red stems. It’s an 18 mo baby so it’s growth is awkward right now. This spray shot up four feet from the base. The stems turn green when more mature.

The new growth is quite red, as you can see in the first picture.

I think Archiduc Charles was jealous of the attention, and has burst into bloom. It might also be the cool, damp weather.

Adam, oh yes now I do see the new growth on the first picture. Yours is much bushier and fuller all around than mine. Very beautiful!

Stephanie, by seeing Adam's rose you know what yours will look like in a few years. It's definitely a gorgeous rose in every way. The additional pictures and info have convinced me even more that I have General Schablikine, since he seems to sport only green canes, although at the moment there are no extreme baby canes. I'm sorry to say that he doesn't have much more room to grow where he's located, but sufficient unto the day. He's wedged in among Aloha, Evelyn and Plum Perfect, and I recall doing that when Plum Perfect looked as though it wouldn't make it. The roses do like to fool you.
