House fire took my roses!

I lost all my roses to a house fire that happened a month after I got married. I dont have any rose cuttings to trade right now but I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to send me some cuttings if I pay the shipping. Thanks in advance

    Hey Stephanie, have you checked to see if the roses might be coming back? I was a victim of the PGE Camp Fire in Paradise, CA in 2018. The worst wildfire in CA's history. I had almost 1800 roses, and we ended up saving about 800+ that survived the fire. It took a few months for them to recover and grow back. Mine were all burnt totally to the ground. They are very resilient plants. If the bud unions were at the soil level or below, they likely will come back! Keep checking them!

      I'm so sorry that you lost all of your roses and that you had a house fire!!! What a blow this must be! Unfortunately, I can't ship anything as I live in Canada. Can you find some greenhouses near you and buy some from them?

      That is horrible. Have you rebuilt? Where do you live and what roses were you growing before?

      I live in south Carolina. I am working on rebuilding but it is slow going with what is all going on. I am not looking for any specific rose. My dream was to have a rose garden full of different kinds. I was just looking for a way to start until covid-19 let's the stores

      Hi Stephanie, I'm so sorry to hear about the fire and your loss! I'm happy to send you some cuttings, I just don't know what the laws are regarding sending plant material to SC from California. Do you know what's required?

      I can give you some Zeffiy cuttings IF you’ll tell me what I have to do…..

      ie.

      Where do I cut?

      How long should they be?

      Wrap them in wet towels & plastic bags?

      AND where to ship them.

      Also, how many do you want? Might as well make it a large number since this is first time thing…

      Beth & Stephanie -- I'm so sorry to hear about your fires and your roses. But glad many of yours survived, Beth. I'm happy to send cuttings if you tell me how/where.


      We went through the Tea Fire here -- much of my garden burned, including many roses, but our house ws only damaged. Firefighters saved the house. But I really grieved for my garden. I'm happy to help if I can.

      Stephanie - yes, maybe a lot of them survived? but it's nice that people here are so generous and eager to share their cuttings. :)
