Bedroom Decor advice

I’m having a bit of a dilemma with my bedroom. It’s definitely come a long long way since we moved in a few months ago. However, I’m not too sure what I could do with the shelf-wall that stretches across the whole left & back wall. T-lights looked good on it but were a bit too girly for my boyfriend... I was going to put paintings up on the back wall but I also have a dresser opposite my bed that I feel would look better with pictures behind it. I’m having a hard time because the floor, door, dresser and bed are made of a bright wood. Sometimes it feels like a bit much. I would love to sand the dresser down and maybe stain it and change the knobs, if anyone has any ideas/advice? Also, the frames on the wall behind the dresser are just balancing on existing hooks & I don’t really like the pictures in them - just playing around with ideas. I’m in a DIY mood and wanted to paint my own prints to match the aesthetic. I put a rug on top of the dresser to brighten it up a bit because all the wood is starting to get to me 🤣I’m definitely looking for a new bedside table and carpet to brighten up the room. I’ve also struggled finding bedside lamps to match. Honestly, I’m getting frustrated & running out of ideas so I would really appreciate a fresh perspective !
