What colors go best with this type fireplace. Could this wall be an accent wall with a color different that the other walls?

Yes, I should have mentioned that. The paneling will be replaced with drywall and the carpet replaced with hardwood. It is a ranch house all one level. This living room is sunken. We are in the process of buying it.

What fun and what a vision! Exciting times are ahead for you! I keep looking at the brick and know a red or coral would work, but I cannot suggest that for the whole room, either. Then I also see the grout and the cream and part of me just feels safe, as I always do, and wonder about a nice cream/vanilla to work with and how it would also look soooo nice with hardwood floors.

If the carpet is staying.........paint the walls AND the fireplace.......perhaps a warm cream.

Hi. Thanks for posting. what are your favorite colors, there should be: one base color a field color for the walls and rest of room and one then accent color for the wall, one at fireplace. Has the rest of house been painted. Do you have one base color in the rest of house your using. The accent color should be framed with that.

How about windows for natural light in that room.....that might affect the color, too.

My favorite colors are usually in the green/blue/beige families and I like red as an accent. I should mention that we will probably go with a rustic feel because my husband has a mounted deer head I have to put on the wall. :) Not over the firepace though the taxidermist advised against it because it will dry out. I have several antiques I would like to include such as a sewing machine, radio and an old trunk. They may anot all work together in this room though. I do not want to have too much going on so that is feels cluttered. It is a large room. I think it is 19 x 25.

We do plan on adding a large window on the right side of the fireplace and a french door on the left to go to the backyard. The sliding door that is currently there further to the left will be gone as we are enclosing that in to make a larger master suite. On the other end of the room there is a large bay window that will be replaced with either another bay window or multiple windows side by side (depending on price). I have a picture of it, but I cannot figure out how to add another picture to this thread.

Red is a fun accent color and I like the plans for the antiques in this area, too. You might be surprised how they will all work in this room, serving different purposes.

2872, when you make a comment, right below the comment field is a button that says "Attach images." Click it to upload your photos. You can load up to four at a time.

Are you going to do something about the ceiling? That's one of the first things I would remove. I'd do that, install the windows and doors, and the drywall before deciding on colors. The light in that room will change drastically and your colors will look totally different then.

yes we are planning on redoing the ceiling as well. It is currently a drop ceiling and will probably drywall it. I want some recessed lights as well as ceiling fan light. Do you have any suggestions for overhead lights? I have end tables that I could put some table lamps on as well. I just want to make sure I have options for lights. Definitely dimmer switches so I can adjust as necessary That is not my end table in the picture, it belongs to the current owners.
