Hi there! I could definitely see stationary panels on the sides. Rather than have them just above the lower windows, you could have them go up to, or close to, the crown moulding. For the side window, rather than the short panels they had before, I'd keep the same length on that window as well.

You could have panels custom made to follow the angle of the ceiling. They can be mounted on drapery rods or boards or with medallions as shown in the photos.

Or, leave the drapery off for a more casual look!

The slanted ceiling is making it hard. Are you saying you wouldn't go all the way to the floor or just have both windows the same? thanks.....

Is it possible for you to center your sofa on the windows and move the chair into a different space ( its hard to suggest where to move it to based on this one photo) With the sofa in the center you could hand two beautiful patterned drape panels at the height of the current panels.

You could add tint film to the upper angled glass windows.

Keep the blinds and forget the drapes on the row of windows below the angled windows. Alternately, you could add white or even pale (same as wall color) sheers on one long rod all the way across the room (beneath the angled windows) to soften the look without blocking the light.

It will be a totally different layout. This was how I walked into it.

One idea is to purchase Zebra shades as a window dressing. Remove the drapery as this is not required. I would leave the upper windows free from coverings as natural light is essential. If the sun comes through and is too much to watch TV and or use your computer, the double shades will allow you to close the blinds but still allow the area to feel bright. They also come in a blackout material if required.

Think it depends upon what you want the room to feel like - rustic, modern, farmhouse , etc. And if you need to cover windows for insulation/privacy. If rustic or farmhouse, you could do small panels of a material which mimics those styles and colors of upholstery and other soft goods in room and take down blinds if you don’t need them.

If the feeling you want is more modern, I would not hang anything up at all and enjoy the view. If you need privacy/insulation, then some type of blinds - minimal - would provide that. The zebra blinds referenced above do look interesting. Good luck on your project.

We have the sheers blinds with horizontal fabric vanes and like them a lot. It’s a lighter look (and easier to raise and lower) than wood blinds. The downside is that bugs can crawl into the cells and be hard to get out. We also have the sheer vertical blinds over a French door. Looks like a sheer curtain with a nice drape. Can you get someone from a company that sells window treatments out to measure and tell you what your options are?

I would just keep it simple. No drapes needed here as the windows have enough interest. You have enough depth t do inside mount so you can do simple solar shades on the bottom. Make sure you do a UV protective film on the top to protect your furnishings. You could also do plantation shutters.

The plantation shutters can be done top and bottom if you want total privacy and light control.

It is always hard to make suggestions on isolated elements of any home...without a better idea about the home...but in general a vacation home is more casual...not formal enough for drapes..especially if the home is small and the decor has not determined yet...so i also think the shades that are inset installed would be a good place to start...especially if there is a view and privacy..so that you will mostly only close them when you are not there...

It looks like you have some stained glass like film in the angled window. Do you need privacy or light blocking there? if not leave it clear or just frosted film. Just blinds would be a clean look.

Thanks to everyone for your input. I am overwhelmed with your thoughtful responses. I think I’ll go with the blinds for now. I have grey plank flooring going down and easy mid century modern furnishings that are very minimal. If anything I will add stationary panels to each side.
