Hi Jen - I was wondering about my Oshun as well because it's quite pink instead of the peachy pink tones I was expecting. Mine is definitely growing as a shrub not a climber at this time.

I hope we find out if we really got Oshun. This one bloom has lasted for six days or so.

There's only a slight fragrance so far.

Hi ann !! I guess calling mine a climber is jumping the gun bc it’s not very large but it’s not sturdy either . My first bloom lasted almost a week too ! It never opened like yours but I thought that may be the cool nights we’ve had . Are your buds droopy like mine ?

My rose's growth is upright including the two buds that I think are coming. The pic shows the only bud/bloom so far. Tomorrow I'll take a pic of my plant but nothing about it suggests being a climber.

I have an "Umbra" I am waiting to see bloom too. I did not think the plant looked like a gallica. We will see. Your Oshuns don't look like photos I've seen either, but I've never seen it in person. Your blooms are very pretty.

I have 3 roses from Rogue Valley Roses that are incorrect, too. I emailed them but haven’t received their response yet. Guessing with the coronavirus, things will take more time. Helen

Helen , I hope you hear a response soon. I’ll be emailing tomorrow and I’ll allow a week before I call . I have to do the same for David Austin .. I have had 3 roses kick the bucket ! Awful . My poor mill on the floss is just about dead and two of my Bathshebas absolutely are dead. I’m pretty sad about that .

That is disappointing Lilyfinch. Did they just arrive in poor shape? I've always been really pleased with those from DA and recently had my friend purchase both Bathsheba and Malvern Hills for his new garden. He balked a bit at the price, but I told him that's what happens when one only buys from the old Chamblee, HCR, Burling and bagged roses, and that Da sent great roses! I hope that's still the case, but I guess they have a great return policy, Whatever your rose ends up being, it's a delicate beauty!

Jen, I’m sorry to hear that. I had one bare root didn’t wake up (Maurice Utrillo) from Regan and got a refund. I then got 2 Maurice Utrillo from Costco. They are doing good now. I’m guess there was something about last year weather that affect rose growers (PalatineRoses, David Austin...) Helen

They all arrived in excellent condition. The only common denominator is that they were planted into the ground. However I had plenty planted in the ground and do just fine . So I’m not sure what the deal is but next year I’ll plant in pots to start with i think . Not that I have any ground space left anyway ! I can’t decide if o want to replace the Bathsheba locally or just pair with a clematis for my arbor . Vapor your friend will be thrilled ! Even some of them that came smaller than others look so good now I couldn’t tell the difference.

Helen I’m glad you were able to get a good set from Costco !! It would be great If they sold more . Their prices are excellent for their roses

Mine is 5 ft tall , not shrub like yet , just tall canes . It has a bloom today that smelled so amazing!

Hi Jen - My Oshun was in a pot the whole year and bloomed off and on. It produced some amazingly fragrant blooms. I need to either find a spot in the ground somewhere or put it in a larger pot. Do you know if it's shade tolerant?

Your bloom is fabulous! I hope mine will really take off next year.

Thanks for replying Ann ! I’m not sure if it’s shade tolerant. Mine is in a barrel pot from Sam’s club so it’s smaller than a real barrel but bigger than a normal pot , and gets a good amount of sun .

I wonder if it should be cut back this winter or just left alone ?

What do you plan to do ?

So interesting how it started so baby pink this spring and now looks like this!

I can't find my photos of Oshun from this past summer but I think mine changed to a peachy shade too. I cut back all my roses starting in late December through mid to late January to force them into dormancy.

Some years I've missed a few roses and they did just fine without the pruning.
