Need creative idea for dining room dilemma

I'm going to be renting a great apartment that has one flaw. There used to be a removable fire place in the dining room, which has since been removed. Now, all that's left is a square of white tile. I need a way to cover it up or use something to make it work into the room. The room is a pretty decent size even - the photo only shows about half. And since I'm renting, I can't do any major changes to the floor. I'd love some help with a solution for this! Thanks!

How strange is that??? I know this isn't a perfect solution but try to get a piece of carpet to match as closely as possible to what's already there and just lay it over the offending area. The other idea is to get a much larger rug and place it over the whole area under the curtains. This is why it's always a good idea to save some of the carpet.

Get a plant in a large pot with a palm and place it over the small piece of matching carpet. Maybe add several smaller pot around the base of the larger palm to camo the patch.

You should put up some colorful draperies! It would really draw your focus to the center of the room

Would put a large tall plant in the corner on the white space. It will hide the white space and take your eye away from the floor and up to the tall plant.

WOW....and it really extends in to the door way, too. Yes, this is one of those times to embrace it and not try to hide it, or it will look that way. Can you even find some tile that will tie in and blend with the white and brown instead of a big white blob on the floor? Place it since you cannot attach it and make it a perfect square. Putting a big palm on it will make it look like that area was made for the plant and have the pot match the tile.

One other idea.....I see the chandelier has an iron look to it. Go to Hobby Lobby and buy one of their big circular scroll pieces and put it over the white. It will make a nice design and tie in with the light. THEN put a plant over it.
