What??? I am confused is this a basement suite , why is the kitchen in the basement? I think we need more info for sure

This is in our finished basement, not our primary kitchen. However, it’s essentially a full kitchen we’re frequently using. Please excuse the mess, but here’s a picture of the full area.

IMO a basesmtn kitchen does no t require a huge fridge so if the open space bugs you make it smaller to fit the fridge there is no other way to get a bigger fridge apparently.

Get 2-6" fillers and 12" cabinet, fillers you will have to rip to size, and make sure you have enough room for a 12" cabinet between the ref and the upper cabinet...Another option is to order an open front cabinet without the doors and use it as a shelf for recipes.

is their room to do a slide out by the fridge for cleaning supplies and do above the fridge as GN builders suggested or a single drawer rev a shelf?

Have you considered a drawer refrigerator? Or perhaps not large enough for your needs?

Thank you all! Really appreciate the suggestions. @Joseph Corlett- we did, still no fit. We even purchased a counter depth (after the original purchase didn’t fit) hoping it would work, but nope!

Wondering what you all think of lifting the fridge up slightly, and framing underneath as well as the sides? I’m leaning towards adding additional doors above as GN Builders suggested.

Seregiel - great suggestion on the slide out. I’m going to look into that bc I think I would likely fit.

We just installed closed cabinets in our garage and placed the refrigerator on a platform with a toe kick under it. I love it. Not only does it give a more finished look, the freezer on the bottom is much easier to access. I do have to tip toe a bit to get to the top back corner of the refrigerator so I store items I don't need often there. Raising your refrigerator may make it easier to access too.

You can store trays or a low basket on top of the fridge and a broom in the side gap unless you have a broom closet.

Here's the platform. Breaker boxes, sprinkler controls and a rolling workbench are on the left side so we didn't surround the refrigerator with cabinetry and finish it out with filler. You have to click on the second photo to see the platform.

Lifting it, framing it in and installing the side-out pantry (if it fits) will make you forget about having a bigger fridge in there. All good ideas.

We have a small frig and added a drawer below. It works out great for storage and you don’t have to bend as much.

A full size fridge/freezer would look best with the size kitchen you have diwn there and in most families a full size can be fully utilized and it's probably what you really preferred in the first place. So let's try again! Sometimes if you take the doors completely off the refrigerator they WILL fit down a stairway. So, you might try that if you haven't already done so. Delivery guys like to deliver a fully assembled fridge however fridge doors CAN be removed. Also, interior door frames CAN be removed, too, in case the stairway door frames themselves were the problem. Worse case scenario you may (or may not) have to buy a couple fresh pieces of frame but only IF they get broken in the process and you'll want some caulking or spackling and some paint to make the frame look brand new again. Easing the old frame off is NOT difficult, just requires a modicum of patience. Cut through the old paint with box cutter. Pry boards off slowly working the entire board equally. Best of luck. And your basement kitchen looks great, by the way. Wish it was in my basement!

Another thought would be to see if a full height, small capacity fridge and a full height small capacity freezer could be put in as side by sides. i think aj madison has 20" ones but I could be mistaken
