I love the house I think the landscaping is in dire need of some help. like the privacy feel of the deck have you thought about mixing dark gray and natural cedar for the exterior .How about the cedar on the garage door with black framed windows there then a cedar and blck metal for the deck railing sort of like this . Please do not try to hide the beautful harsh lines it is what makes the house awesome BTW

Wouldn’t some plush vines be beautiful ?
Soften up some of those harsh lines and flat surfaces ?
Maybe some jasmine wrapping up the carport column and covering all of the balcony wall ? Might not be your style, but could be pretty!

The strong horizontal line of the deck railing is what makes your house look so contemporary. You have some interesting specimens in the current landscaping. Love the gnarly tree out front.

You can compromise with hubby going white and gray/charcoal

The most obvious improvement will be to add a strong horizontal along the railing ...i like spaced narrow natural wood because of the natural setting..and the detail of the thinner spaced wood over a solid wall...depending on the budget i would get a much nicer garage door in matching wood with lots of horizontal windows in frosted glass...this would work with any paint change as well as the white as is

Right away i would get a good tree expert on to advise and remove and prune everything in sight...leaving mostly interesting silhouettes and open spaces ....if you would like more green ...a variety of ground overs that flower at different times and are different heights will be less maintenance (and a nice contrast to your sleek and modern home) than a lawn...this also relieves any need for smoothing out the property ...which is a huge effort and cost..that will be required for a lawn...
