I couldn't resist another picture of Mme. Lambard. I don't think I've ever seen her look more beautiful.

Very pretty, Ingrid, and I don't remember seeing before your shrubbier, shadier areas, important in the heat. Here we never had a winter, and both winter and spring have been dry, not cold and rarely seriously warm, and free of annoying insects. In fact, as I formally acknowledge here, spring has been absolutely marvelous, as well as very good for all the people waiting in lines outside the grocery stores and other few necessary businesses that are open. Almost perfect (we could have used more rain). But I'm afraid we're going to have a repeat of 2017, which was an awful year for drought and high temperatures, and when summer began a month early in May. And if so, this time it will be with coronavirus hanging over our heads. I think the state of the earth, and of us humans who inhabit it, is just going to get worse and worse until mankind radically changes course.

Meanwhile, it's beautiful! Enjoy your garden!

Ohhh! I love your Madame Lambard. She is so dreamy. Something about those full blooms with slightly reflex’s petals. And her luscious color and those red stems on the leaves. A real beauty!

Gorgeous as ever, Ingrid. I wasn’t thrilled with the sudden jump in temperatures, either. It makes the spring flush go so fast! I love all of your roses, and I’m happy to see them doing so well. I don’t get up the slope often enough to enjoy Wild Edric’s scent, so I’m thinking about cutting some to bring indoors. Wild Edric’s scent is truly amazing. Are your SDLM’s still about hip high? (My hip height) I remember being astonished at the size. Mine is still small. How’s Aloha coming along? I know you were really looking forward to the blooms this year. Melissa, I'm sorry about the lack of rain in your area. There is always that creeping feeling of unease in the back of one's mind, no matter how beautiful it all looks at the moment.

Roses can be such chameleons and Mme. Lambard more than most. This is the first time I've seen those soft light pink shades, and I can't imagine it staying that way with the heat. At least I'll have these pictures to remind me.

Lisa, one of my SdlM is hip high, but the other is taller than I am (which is 5 foot nothing) and seems to want to keep growing. The salvia was actually eaten down to the ground and suddenly came back up during the recent rains. Unfortunately the milkweed that looked so pretty next to it hasn't returned. My Aloha just opened its first bloom yesterday. I can't wait to see your roses, and Sheila's, and Stephanie's, and Marlorena's, and....and.....so many more.

Your roses are putting on a wonderful show this year! I'm sorry to hear that they are crisping up so soon -- hopefully the weather will cool back down for a while!

It's already a bit cooler today, and the eighties are much more manageable than the nineties. I'm sure the roses will adjust.

I'd love to see your marjoram! Not many people use it as an ornamental but I've always thought it looks great with the roses. Hard to believe, but the critters have started attacking it too, although it took them a while. Must not be the tastiest thing in the garden.

I'll post when I get it planted. I hope it gets as large and lovely as yours. ;)
