I would not paint the chairs. I would find a fabulous colorful fabric and recover chairs. Very easy project. Also, maybe some drapes and square up the table, seems odd at that angle.

I originally had drapes on the window and decided then switched to a more streamlined Roman blind.

I would look for a funky floral fabric in the color way of your rug. Also, a very large piece of art for your big wall and I think you need a bigger chandelier. Your room is really cool with your windows and I like your dining set. I think you aren’t totally happy with the room because it needs some pizazz!

Thanks for the tips! We have a large piece of art on an opposite wall. Now I am thinking we should balance it on the opposite with something more substantial.

How would it look to switch places with the artwork at both ends of the table, moving the big piece to where smaller one is, and the smaller one where the big one is? Just seems like it may be more proportional to the wall space, but hard to tell for sure from the pics. You don't need to balance the larger piece with one of equal size. Just let it stand on its own.

Definitely don't paint the furniture, but a big yes to recovering the chair seats with a fun and perhaps slightly funky print. The fabric choices are limitless, but something like that a Marimekko could be fun.

Three years later I added new chairs that I got on sale, a new runner, and candlesticks. This simple refresh makes me like the room much more. Do you think I need to replace the rug?
