Tung oil is food safe. Maple is naturally a lighter wood so there is only so much you can do. Maple tends to yellow over time.

Thanks! Have you had experience with the dark Tung? I may have to look into having someone stain/finish it and use it like a regular countertop. Although it’s starting to grow on me..

Should have used walnut if you wanted dark. That will never be dark. And now it’s completely non food safe and ruined for prep. And it’s ruined to putting a film forming coating too. Mystery oil? Really?

I am not familiar with dark tung oil, but regular tung oil imbues an orange/yellow hue and does darken the wood slightly.
