All I can suggest is put a railing on the stairs for safety.

It would be nice if you could add another foot of width to the porch. An awning over it would be good, too.

Someone seems to have removed all of the windows. I don't see any. That's a lot of blank wall.

In the strip bed along the house, about all you're going to be able to grow is some groundcover/perennial type plant. Depending on where you live, Liriope, lily of the valley, or something like that. Unfortunately, it won't really address the blank wall, but there not room for things that could. On the other side of the walk, a low, preferably "steppable" groundcover in lieu of any grass since there is so much shade, would probably be the best bet.
