Glo European Windows & Doors I feel the same. Like I mentioned, looking from straight on I think it looks great, but when you see the front door or sit on our couch, the painted walls do seem unfinished and/or doesn't flow into the wallpaper, as if it's not one space.
Do you like the design? I'm noticing the blue has a small gray tint during part of the day which, I think, works well with the silver sage paint (although I am no pro).

Its hard to get an accurate read of the color on the computer monitor but I'm actually surprised at how blue it is. I thought there would be more greys like in the close-up sample you posted several comments up. So, hearing it has more grey during the daylight hours, is definitely a good thing.

Glo European Windows & Doors Here are two photos of the design up close. I think perhaps it looks more blue in the entryway because the light is reflecting off both white doors, the front and the coat closet door. It seems the blue shade varies throughout the day as does the paint color in our living room.

I would continue the wall paper on the ceiling, then paint the rest of the entry way the background blue/grey color from the wall paper. I don't think wall papering the arch will look right.

Well, it's up! While not perfect (don't look too closely), this is my first attempt applying wallpaper (a flat wall will be a breeze after this project!). I am happy with the result and I think it now seems complete, as one space. I plan to change out the entryway table and the artwork over the table to tie in more of the design's tones. These photos were taken this morning with a little overcast. Again, sometimes the design looks more light blue and in other light it looks more blue gray, but I suppose that is with all color working with light. I hope those coming in and out of our home feel a calm and happiness when seeing the cranes. :) Thanks for all your tips and comments!

Wow!! If that doesn't put a smile on people's faces when they first walk in I don't know what will. Looks incredible (and crazy hard to do)!

Glo European Windows & Doors thank you! It is a little bold for my earth-toned colored home, but I am very happy with it. I'll have to see how the cranes look on a full-sun day! I think the archway actually turned out....decently....which is what we're going for at this point. ;)

The wallpaper is very unexpected as you walk through the door and would make me happy to see, if I should walk into your home.

On the other hand, it may take a little work to make it work with your neutral living room.

just a thought... you may consider bringing in a pillow or two into the living area that has the background color of the wallpaper so it balances a bit more. I know that color is in the rug, but may help to bring attention to that color a bit more

I am so glad you "went for it" and am impressed you took the application on by yourself! Like Theresa said I would love to see some of the same or similar blue brought into your living room space. via rug and pillows.

Theresa Janssen and Design Interior South, that's a great thought to pull some of the blue grey as accents in pillows, etc. As you can see in a few posts above there are hints of the light blue in the rug, so it would help to pull that up too. And once I find the right piece of art at the bottom of the stairs, that will help.

I have some leftover, so I did think about doing the stairway ceiling. Or maybe I just need to chill out and let the entryway have all the attention. Ha.

It's a beautiful hello/goodbye to your home. I wouldn't do the stair way area. But I think that lumbar pillow and maybe a vase or 2 would bring the blue into the living room. Very impressed!

I'd leave the ceiling of the stairwell alone. The blue pillow is a great idea!

It might be kinda cool to paper the wall at the top of the stairs...

I also believe a little pop of fantasy....Is just that...it doesnt really have to blend....

Just a small update, I added this painting as a transition piece from the wallpapered entryway to the living room. I feel the coastal scene, is not only calming, but also compliments the cranes. I have ordered a taller, midcentury entry table in place of the antique chest and I ordered a floater frame for the painting. I think that will complete the look. Thanks again for all your comments and thoughts!
