Thanks augment. I don't seem to have any photos of my bloody dock. The rattlesnake hawkweeds haven't returned yet, I might be getting a bit concerned. Luckily, I sowed many seeds for it.

Thank you Jay. Have you ever tried transplanting this or would collecting and sowing seed be better?

Christopher, I planted 2 plants last year, and they seemed to do fine. No problem transplanting at all. They haven't come back yet this year, I'm hoping they're just late. I collected seeds from the plants and I winter sowed some. They haven't germinated yet. This is my 1st time growing them from seed. It's a beautiful and desirable plant that gets the unfortunate nickname of hawkweed.

I have some of that. We call it rattlesnake weed. The flowers aren't beautiful but the leaves are pretty and they grow in little colonies. I don't know if it is because the roots send up new plants or if they come from seeds.

The 2 plants I grew didn't appear rhizomatous. They bloomed repeatedly with a lot of flowers, so they probably spread by seed. They call it rattlesnake weed because it is found in the same places that rattlesnakes inhabit. I disagree about the flowers. I think they're beautiful. They may be considered unattractive because they fet lumped with dandelions and more common hawkweeds, but I like the flowers. Only ray flowers, very chicory-like.
