Wall Light by Garage

Hi,

We're building a house and I need some help on making a decision on wall lights in front of the house at the garage. Below is a rendering of the house. Our paint colors are TBD, but likely will be a gray/blue of some sort. Our designer has suggested the below light options:

My wife is not a big fan - she leans more towards traditional lights and also prefers black tones rather than nickel/chrome. She really likes something like the below:

I'm somewhere in the middle. Do you have any suggestions that would satisfy all parties and work with the style of the house? I want something that isn't completely boring but also isn't offensive/gaudy.

Since the house has a Craftsman feel, I would go for a Craftsman style light. Something like this bridges the gap between too modern and too traditional.

@katinparadise, that's a great look. I really like that, although it is a bit pricey. Do you have any other suggestions that would be under $150 (preferably under $100)?

Those are super solid options - thank you @katinparadise. Seems like you have a really good eye for lighting. On another subject, we're looking for entry semi-flush mount lighting as well. Below are our top choices:

What style will be using for decor in the house? Are you going to be using brushed nickel for all lighting? How tall are the ceilings in the entry? One one hand, I prefer the 1st. The second style has been done to death. On the other hand, clear glass is tough to keep clean and the 2nd one won't show dust as much.

@katinparadise, thanks for the feedback. We are using brushed nickel for most interior finishes. Our designer's tastes lean more modern, but we tend to lean more traditional. So, I would say that the style is a blend of modern and traditional. The fireplace, for example, will be a linear modern fireplace, and the handrails will be modern metal with a wood cap. On the other hand, our kitchen will lean more traditional with white wood shaker style cabinets and carrara-style quartz countertops. Hope that gives you a feel for what the style will be.

I agree that I really prefer option #1 (Savoy) since I think it is more unique and blends the modern and traditional elements more, but my wife is all about option #2. I could live with option #2, but wondering if maybe you had other suggestions.

It sounds as though your designer has lots of ideas and probably a plan for the lighting in the whole house. Are you just not meshing when it comes to design styles?
