Our first house was thirty five years old when we bought it. The sellers had removed all the kitchen cabinets 25 years before we bought. They took out all the kitchen cabinets because they had ants! Be care to place them out of reach of children and pets. Don’t start taking off baseboards or losing sleep.

If you can find out what species of ant they are, you'll be able to deal with them better. Some are destructive, some aren't, some get into food, some short out wiring, some live in your walls, some merely pass through.

Have you just started irrigating? Perhaps a nest was disturbed.

See if you can get any clues from your (and neighboring) state extension brochures about what they are. Knowing how your ant behaves will help you figure out why they are there and how to discourage them.
