using Houzz/Gardenweb and ALL the Forums?

last modified: 6 years ago

I have been using these forums for many years, but I find that whatever "improvements" have been made, have not improved the ease of use for me.

With that, I was pretty sure there is a cooking or baking or recipe forum but I am not able to find one. I do have the list of those I selected to follow, and when I try to get the list of all forums,it only includes the gardening.

1- Is there a cooking forum (and if so please can you link it and then I guess I have to "folllow " it to have it readily accessible ?.

2- Is there a way to get the list of all the forums? I know many are pretty inactive but I thought the cooking one was really happening.

Thank you

salonva, if you haven't found it yet, here's the link for the cooking forum.

Lindsey W., here's what I see, in its entirety, when I click on the 'Follow discussions' link on my page. Note: I'm in southern Ohio--not Australia--and IIRC, I've never searched any of these forums.

When I click your other links these are the pages I find:

As you can see, the Cooking forum does not appear on the comprehensive list; neither do other forums which I've seen members' posts asking about: Care Givers, Computers, Grieving, Hot Topics, The Kitchen Table--maybe others; seems that I recall a Birdwatchers forum. They still exist:

    https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/care

    https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/comphelp

    https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/grieving

    https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/hottopics

    https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/kitchentable

    https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/bird

Is there another page with the links to these forums?

When I try to update mine, I don't see anything like 'Explore Topics' that Lindsey's ScreenShot shows.

It's amazing how we all have differing outcomes. @User --- fwiw, I see :

    Explore Discussions

    Featured Home Discussions

    Featured Garden Discussions

This is all on the left hand side of the page, at least for me (under Your Activity)

If I click on Featured Home Discussions, it brings up a list of many many of the forums, but I agree with @mama goose_gw zn6OH that I cannot see Cooking Forums. In any case, the order is seemingly random- clearly not alphabetical. When I get to that forum, I then click "follow" so that at least it shows up in my list of forums readily accessible. (on the left hand side right above the explore discussions.

Someone linked the cooking forum and that is what I did to get that as it does NOT show up in any listing that I have been able to get.

    Salonva,

I see the same as you do:

    Explore Discussions

    Featured Home Discussions

    Featured Garden Discussions

when I ask to Edit, I get a box asking me to check off My Interests (can't copy it to here).

I had similar issues trying to find Hot Topics, can't ever see where it's listed only got back in when provided a link to it. Grrrrr

I've kept Hot Topics and Kitchen Table bookmarked on my laptop, since for a time, a couple of years ago, using those links was the only way I could sign in with the gardenweb url--I guess because Houzz had no equivalent of those discussion pages. (This page has the houzz.com url.)

I know the KT has a different title (Home & Garden Discussions) if I access it through Houzz, even when using the 'My Topics' shortcut. I don't know about HT, since I don't have it in 'My Topics', and I had to go back to my bookmarks to find it. Most of the above links I found by using google with 'gardenweb birdwatching' or whatever.

salonva, when you click on 'Explore Dicsussions' under Your Activity, do you get the Australian Forums page that I posted? That's all I get! It's not new--I noticed it a couple of months ago, but hadn't taken the time to search for answers until I saw your thread.

I don't come here much because I'm always confused since the merger. Is there only one "kitchen" forum now? I also don't understand how to search within a forum. Do you have to search in the top bar? If the only true gardenweb forum left something like "decorating conversations"?

Well I just saw this but I dont get notifications for this thread that I started ......but anyway I don't get the Australian forums that mamagoose gets. I guess i will be thankful for that! And DebraK, I wish I could answer how to search here. I USED to be able to do that pretty reliably but for quite a while I get crazy results. When I ask, people will tell me to do exactly what I have been doing, but for some reason I don't get any sort of rational results. Kind of like mamagoose getting Australian forums. :)
