if you mean completely red... there arent any ...

there are some that have some subtle red markings ... but i dont know if thats what you want ...

First Blush is the reddest you'll find for now, I think. If you live a cold growing zone, it may be red for you for the first month or so of the growing season. It is pricey, about $40 with shipping for a small one.

Hosta_maker, impressive! I have not seen such intense blushing. Also, the blushing yellow is gorgeous. Alas, I live in central NC. Temperature was 88 degrees yesterday afternoon. Keep up the great work, and show off those those lovely colors.

right, bob solberg tells me they will blush down there, just earlier and for a short amount of time, and to a lesser degree. so they tend to get a bad rap because of expectations. I'm lucky enough to get bursts of canadian cool air in the spring. so evaluating them is alot easier for me.

I try to make it to Bob Solberg's Green Hill Farm nursery on the opening weekend every spring, though I did not attend this weekend. I have seen First Blush and his (and your?) blusher projects on those weekends, usually mid-April in NC. For you Northerners except NJ, that is like late May or early June. First Blush is still dark red-purple on the 1/3 of the leaf farthest from the RED petiole, with the blush continuing between the veins and along the margins (per my memory). It is quite unusual. I don't know if showy is the word, but definitely interesting. It reminds me of rhubarb for some reason. I haven't gotten one yet. Still coming around to the whole concept of red Hostas for me, I guess. It is fun seeing what you Hosta makers are achieving with selective breeding and applied genomics.
