Help me with the final touches

Hi designer community,

Please help me find the final touch that I am in most need of today. 2 foot stools!

The foot stools need to look like they are kin to the 50” x 50” teal ottoman. They will be used for the swivel(s) and the sofa where that person can’t reach the big ottoman.

FYI, a fabric color that could easily be introduced on the 2 stools is Chartreuse. I say this bc the built-ins hold 2 chartreuse’ish color vases by John Richards. Plus, I’ve played with color in the room and it works. The deeper tone the better it looks with the white sofas.

My style preference for this room is elegant.

Would a small ottoman work there?

Shwshw, hi, that’s a good question. I’ll have to play with the space to find out. What would you suggest?

Here is nice one that might work for you.

I like it’s shape Flo! What makes you choose that color? FYI, you may know this....the Thibaut will b the new fab. ottoman and the Pindler will b the sofa lumbar pillows. Do u recommend the yellowish stool now? Yesterday I ordered swatch from One Kings Landing that Julie recommended to try out. Her think8ng is to pull from the new navy pillows...

HI Leslie yes the stool in navy herringbone was possibly to use with the extra chair...just thought it was sharp looking..good to hear you ordered a sample! Curious for sure! I take time once a week to shop on One kings Lane..always find wonderful items to share with my clients! Or me!😉🥰

Julie, How r your headaches? I’m up with one now. Going to an ENT tomorrow...today rather. Need a CAT scan! Do u get headaches in MI? Is your home on the market? If not, it will sell fast once it is, it’s really lovely from what I saw. I still wish you were my neighbor, we’d hang out!

I thought the color would blend in since it is a bit of an odd spot but still have some interest. More neutral I thought.

Leslie please let me know how you are doing? So worried🙏🏻

Hi Julie, I’m okay considering. Frequently, I don’t get Houzz notification banners after the Apple Notebook version updates. So sorry to worry you. The ENT appt went well and i agreed to have a full work up after the doctor said my CT of my sinuses were anatomically perfect. Yea, no surgery! He believes I have chronic migraines, but referred me to a neurologist in Houston for an MRI for confirmation. Meanwhile, I’ll have an allergy test redone for this ENT doctor. I know they like to run their own tests, but, I haven’t had a test since ‘14. I hate these headaches, don’t you?
Have you been to Modern Lantern in Ft. Worth? If so, what do u think of the place? I haven’t been. They sell a mini brass lantern I want to buy for my kitchen table. The quality is superb according to the 5 Star reviews. I really need it for a few reasons, most importantly for when we have company for a casual dinner its nice to have ambient lighting.

Leslie...I love your new art work!
I've dabbled in water color, acrylics and oils, but abstract painting is new to me. I've watched several You Tube videos that have been helpful, but I was wondering if you could share the ones that you found useful. Thanks.

Hi, gosh thank you for the compliment. I don’t have favorite Youtube teacher. I searched for “abstract painting for beginners” and watched one after another and took copious notes.
Like you, I already knew color theory, blending mediums and the art tools it took to achieve the finished product. I was WAS a professional speciality painter from 2002 -2008. I tell you this because I have a head start on the learning curve and I’m sure you do too, so you’ll have fun. Show me your work when you’re done.
Also, write back if you need details on which paint brand, mediums and tools I used in my abstract. Remember, there’s no mistake in painting, just paint over again until you like it.

Here is one I just finished, which prompted me to write to you...it was nothing planned but now that it's finished I see the Italian coastline . with maybe a carnival or giant spider (it is 2020, after all)
It seems very structured...I'll check out some more videos.

You’re talented no doubt and a artist with a self critical eye “it seems very structured”...it’s just right to me! You could sell it today! Check out how to use Masters Touch Gloss Gel on YouTube. Masters Touch Gloss Gel will give you heavy body paint like an oil paint would. Dries in no time unlike oil. And, how to blend acrylic colors together using an additive, so in turn you won’t be structured when you don’t want to be. Remember additives and mediums are different animals. My painting was done with knives which was new to me and I’m sure not to you. Paint on my Houzz friend.

Hi all, Can you help me decide on a nail-head for the blue ottoman that will be upholstered in the Thaibut seen below? Should I have the 13/16” (as large as a nickel) nailed on? I can’t find a smaller version of this nail-head or I’d buy it! The name is Starburst. Picture below.
I could do a single row of 7/16” nail-heads in bronze which is what is on the ottoman now, but in gold. I want you to see that there’s bronze nail-heads on the kitchen chairs, it may help your design thought processes.

Large bronze would be my choice..🤗🥰

Hi, I was wondering were u were! You suggested large bronze, so would they b side by side touching each other in their row?

Where, not were...I need edit before hitting post

I feel that this can easily be solved by a slight change to the floor plan. Replace the club chairs with the other sofa so that they are facing each other with the blue ottoman between them. Relocate the club chairs where the sofa was with the occasional table between them. Relocate the sofa console table under the painting ( if it is narrow enough and low enough)

This way no need for additional rests unless you need them for comfort or pattern interest.

This suggestion is based on the presumption that the room size can accodate the sofas facing each other. Difficult to quantify space from a photo.

Happy New Year All, I hope this post finds you well. I’m good here. I have been thinking a lot about updating you on the final photos of the living area with its new additions of fabric but, the ottoman and lumbars are still not completed and are still with the upholsterer, hence no photo updates of your suggestions. I’ll get photos posted as soon as they arrive. I remain so very grateful for you all and wish you the best.

Best Wishes for the new year to you too, Secluded. Stay safe and well.

Oooh this would look so nice in your home!

Hi all, This week I finally received the neutral ottoman and I promised I’d post a picture once I got it. 12 weeks the upholstery guy had the ottoman bc he’s so busy building orders. That’s the way of the design world I hear!

Perfect timing for relaxing and watching the game! Are you happy with it?

Hi Molly😃! Yes, I am happy with it. I love the texture, multi colors and it’s not jarring like the aqua was. The picture doesn’t do it justice, it looks so much better in person, I almost didn’t Post it. Great to hear from you. Lol, I’m watching the Super Bowl, are you? For some reason I can’t upload more pictures. Maybe bc I’m on my Tablet. Are you having problems with Houzz today?

We are watching the game and have 3-0 so not happy to see TB score with 37 seconds left in the 1st quarter!!! I have problems when I have too many apps open. I have uploaded many pictures today. I’m so happy you like it! 🙂

It looks great Secluded! Just in time for the SB! We are watching; my DIL is there! She won a ticket as a healthcare professional and has the most amazing seat! Right in front at the end zone! Go Bucks‼️

Here r more photos...now you can see color in the art, instead of just taupes. Hi Lynartist and Julie! How exciting your DIL is at the game. Is your son with her? I hope he’s enjoying the great seats as well.

Oh! It is lovely!!! Very chic; changes the whole look in this room! No, it’s just her; one lucky ticket😉

Hi Julie, All is well. Survived the big blizzard, but the tankless water pipes didn’t. We were without hot water for 9 weeks bc parts were back ordered. Then the hail hit 4 weeks ago....let me sum it up this way, we’ve had 95k of damage (new roof, etc). How about you? I know you must have a horror story of your own. If you like me and most Texans you’ve been scheduling contractors.
Remember you said I could use the left over navy pillow fabric for a side chair? Do you see the chair in the photo? I know the placement isn’t popular on this site, but I like a convenient chair there. Lynartist suggested specific 2 framed paintings in the built ins. Tried it, danced with several paintings, but I ended up liking the clock. I only added one blue vase in the built ins. I’m satisfied with the living area, so thank you for helping me. Thank you to ALL!

Oh ! How awful 😩!!! I’m sorry you have had such a terrible time with this horrific storm season this year. I know so many people have been impacted all over the country as well with delays and price hikes in building materials as well! I’m sure it will be quite some time before much of it is resolved.

Hi Lynartist, Lol, cold showers were the worst! Say, I don’t see todays photos I just posted, are you seeing them?

Hi Leslie, so sorry about all the damage to your house and repair problems. 😫. I don’t see any pictures either.

So sorry you had such troubles... 9 weeks is a crazy long time
Your pictures haven't shown up yet

Here are the pictures. I added the blue chair, blue vase in BI, and clock recently. FYI: This mornings Post has the details.

The chair is so pretty with the monogram. :). I’ve ordered a monogram pillow for the bedroom, but it’s coming from India so no telling when I will get it with their situation. 🤷‍♀️

Omgosh India, count our blessings that we’re from the USA! Those poor souls are dying by the hundreds! I’m sure they’re grateful to be getting your pillow order among all orders from American’s.

The chair is so lovely! Everything looks just perfect!!!!

Thank you Lynartist. I actually found the chair Craigslist for $65, i faux finished it and upholstered it. See the before and after pics below.

Aren’t you just a girl after my own heart♥️‼️ just wonderful !!!

    Love love love the chair!

So sorry to hear what you went through with the big freeze!😟

We are one of the lucky ones...only out of power for 2 hours and we had a few pipes that did freeze but no bursting pipes..all thawed and no damage..we have a backup system on the pool so the water continued to move so no damage on our tiles or pump...we feel blessed🙏🏻 so many suffered and so many had water damage..

That blue velvet on your chair is just so yummy....

    Art looks beautiful hung horizontal.

Did you end up doing new flower arrangement on your dining room table?

Hi Julie, Happy Mother’s Day! Thank you for your compliments, you’re the talent! So happy to hear you didn’t have catastrophic issues at your house. Phew!
The dining room table arrangement is the same. Big gold bowl with ball. Funny you asked, I’ve been wanting to make the same arrangement you made to sit inside (or, buy).
