This platform bed in a light pecan color and the forest green rug is the only thing in a small guest room that I would like to make an/office / guest room......

I desperately need ideas for colors and a look to make it chic but functional The bed cover does not have to stay !! It is just protecting mattress. Walls are SW alabaster white thank you

I need to see a to scale floor plan sohwing windows, doorways . Use graph paper make sure all measurements are readable and then more info about what you need in the office and also in there a closet in the space. I don’t mind the color of the carpet .

You will get the best comments by showing pictures of every wall. Stand in each corner taking a picture of the opposite corner. A sketch with room dimensions including doors, windows and closets. Without those I always suggest for a guest room that you take your clues from a nice hotel. Night tables on both sides of the bed with lighting. They don't have to match. Just similar height and color. Bed not against a wall... too hard to make the bed. A place for a suitcase. A place to sit. A dresser really is not needed in a guest room. And you can use the closet for storage leaving just a small area for guest to hang clothes. Unless they are staying a long time they probably won't use it. Find a bedcover you like and work from there to coordinate accessories and art.

You can use a desk on one side of the bed as a night table with its chair as the seating. Will you be using it more as an office or a guest room?

More of an office....need color scheme too

It is hard to take photos of entire room...using for storage now....but wall to left of bed and wall to right of bed is all wall space except entry door on the right with is on an angle. There are bifold closet doors opposite the foot of the bed.....with some wall space. And a window opposite the door to the far right of the bed....I truly hope this helps......I am looking for a color scheme too.

If space allows, turn bed so guests don’t have to crawl in to other side. Add one or two night stands and one lamp that matches one on desk. In regards to desk, select the wall most suited - would be nice under window. Not sure if you have a desk already? Select a multifunctional chair that is comfy for guest use as well.

In regards to decor think about how you want room to feel. Given the carpet and headboard, I would head towards an earthy feel combined with mid century.

photos all with desks in bedrooms. the first is my own guest room.I would place the desk beside the bed on the side closest to the door to make it easier for you to use as an office. add a bookcase close for your office supplies or put it all in the closet hidden away. even a printer can go there using wireless.

    IMO the best is the floor plan and some info about how you will use the desk/ office. Post some pics in an idea book to show us your style for sure;

Did you build the bed yourself? Very crafty. Even a hand drawn sketch of the room would help. I'm having trouble picturing the locations of the door and window.

Great suggestions so far. I like copper and charcoal with your carpet. Here is some inspiration...

Would you consider darker walls? Love the masculine feel of this...

Softer gray walls with strong accent color (obviously, wall and floor colors are reversed in this photo)...

Earthy purple or dusty rose even if you kept walls white...

Loving the garden feel...because of the green carpet ..but if it will be your office mainly...i would go with a summer garden...pastels...florals..fluffy soft messy bed linens ..more cheerful and work friendly..your desk could be a longish parson table...with wicker file cabinets and baskets underneath ..mostly leaving the bedside part open underneath

Green is mother nature's favorite color. There are few colors that won't work well in your room.

Do you have a painting, piece of art, bedding or something that makes your heart sing and has the carpet color in it?

Once you have an inspiration piece you can tie the whole room together with the colors that are in the inspiration piece.

I do....are you saying. Build the room around it? I j\thought it had too much green color??

@ad16 What I am saying is that with the green carpet you can incorporate almost any color that you love and it will work with the green. Think of flowers - they all come on green plants. Birds sit in the green trees. The green trees are backlit by the blue sky and white clouds.

We all coordinate outfits every day, but when it comes to decorating a room we get stuck. Think of the green carpet like it was a pair of slacks. What color shirt and jacket would you put on?

Each of us is unique and we all love different colors, but it would be harder to incorporate your favorite colors if you had a lilac carpet.

The pictures I posted show how many colors work with green. You can choose to add more green or pick other colors from your inspiration piece to pick out wall colors and bedding and accent pieces. Pick one thing you love that has some of the green and build the rest of the room using the other colors.

If you hung the chickadee picture in the room you could have gray walls and bedding with the pink/peach flowers with touches of green and it would work.

If you used the white bedding with the brighter flowers you could keep your light walls and green carpet without change.

If you picked the white bedding with the green leaves and butterflies you could do walls that are the peachy/cream color in the carpet.

Only you know what colors you love, but unless the colors you love are lime green and fuchsia, you have a pretty good chance that you can make your favorite colors with with the green carpet.

You could have an L-shaped desk that wraps from under the window to the wall with the closet (if there's room). You wouldn't need this much shelving, but whatever your space can allow. Did you say the window and door are on the same wall?

You could drape a throw or two over headboard and use bed as daybed for your office, etc.

You could use something like these pieces for home office.setup.
