Ideas for my counters?

I'm considering removing the cabinetry on my island to open up my kitchen, but I'm uncertain about what I would want for counters (now a dark granite on one part and a brown pebbly-quartz on the parts near the window and stove). The first contractor suggested painting the cabinets white. I don't want to do that because I don't want to disrupt the style of the house (lots of wood, arts & crafts vibe). I'd rather work with what I have. Concrete, quartz, marble??

I went with a light quartz and a new apron front sink - looks like you have the apron front sink:) I have always just preferred working on a light surface, others prefer dark:)

Hi mec. Not concrete. It’s just not durable enough. I’d go for soapstone, and if the budget allows, I’d put it everywhere. The other option would be Danby marble, if you’re not averse to sealing it. Both of these options are living finishes.

Thanks for the pics and ideas! We do have one apron front sink. The other right now is a large, divided stainless, which will be replaced, but perhaps with a deep stainless single sink.
