Does your RdV have thorns? If not, it's likely the right one.

My big box stores have Knock Outs, Knock Outs and more Knock Outs. They must be selling like hot cakes because there are way more than last year. The new shipments they get in for Mother's Day will likely be lots more Knock Outs.

My Lowe's said with the pandemic, plant and rose sales are way down, so they haven't gotten in any new shipments, just keeping the original KOs. : ((

That’s too bad, Flowers and Vaporvac. Lowes was one place that has felt more normal through all of this. Their store and garden center have seemed so busy. If I didn’t buy something right away that I wanted, it was gone the next day. I’m sure business overall is down though. Several Lowes in this area have also had a lot of DA’s Tranquillit but, I agree, lots and lots of KOs that seem to just sit there.

Ha! I just got off the phone with Lowe's supplier and the sweet person I spoke with last time explained with the pandemic they've just been sending a lot of plants locally, so that is where my promised Quicksilver went. They like to send them with blooms. However, she said my local Lowe's was due for a shipment next week and there will be 75 Kordes. She was kind enough to make sure to include Lavender Veranda and Plum Perfect! Yeah! Probably no Quicksilver though and I forgot to ask about Honeymoon and Kiss Me Kate. Oh well. Thanks for the reminder Dave. I should have asked about RdV, but don't know if that is where you bought it. If so, they may be getting it as they will be sending a bunch of off patent roses also. Is that where you bought yours?

@Vaporvac Z6-OhioRiverValley I purchased RdV from Walmart of all places. I was actually excited about thier rose selections which never happens. Looking at the foliage of RdV from Palatine vs Walmart this evening, the foliage from the foliage from the Walmart plant it much darker. I’ll have to look at it closer tomorrow. That’s awesome that Lowes would fo that for you. You’ll have to let us know all they end up getting in.

I may call my Walmart! Yes, one of my local Lowe's is awesome, but they no longer can order. It's whatever the grower sends them which is why Lowe's told me to call them directly. The growers are Dewar's out of Fl. and are awesome. I couldn't believe such a huge grower would take the time to figure out what stock was going where in my locale. It's crazy, but made me feel a bit better buying from Lowe's knowing the source of their roses and knowing the people behind them. The coordinator actually remembered the conversation with me from two months ago and that I wanted Quicksilver!!! Of course, I'm probably the only nutcase to call them! ;-0 LOL!!!

I found a Gertrude Jekyll at Lowe’s last night! I was absolutely floored. I have never seen David Austin Roses there and they had a ton.

@Mrs Gartin z6a KC - I would love to find another GJ to add to the garden. I went to another Lowes during my lunch today and they also had Wollerton Old Hall, The Poets Wife (which I had just paid $49 at a local nursery to replace one that died this winter), Queen of Sweden, and a group that were labeled as The Lady Gardener but clearly were not - looked and smelled like Jubilee Celebration, which I would have picked up if they weren’t $30. I like the $10 price tag at Walmart better. The roses looked pretty sad to - crammed together and completely dry.

Beautiful finds! I recently found a Love rose at Home Depot of all places. At my old place I had one I had to order. Impressed this year with some of the big boxes and what they have.

Melissa I have a Love from Home Depot too! It is covered in buds, I will have blooms in a couple of weeks. My husband works nights there so he finds me so many fun plants as soon as they bring them into the store.

Guys! I just found delbard roses at local farmers market!!! Marc Chagall!!! I am taking them all!!! Got 5! :-) I also found Queen of Elegance, All dressed Up, Double Delight.

Summersrhythm, I'm sharing your excitement. I found some goodies today, too.

I'm going to have to quit fussing about my big box stores. Walmart has some gorgeous Boleros among some other good roses, Home Depot has Marc Chagall, Maurice Utrillo, La Petit Prince and a bunch more very desirable roses, and my grocery store also has some very nice ones, including Peach Swirl. I can hardly believe it, but there were very few Knock Outs at Home Depot and the grocery store. It looks like someone is getting the message. Delbards, no less!

I don't begrudge anyone loving and growing Knock Outs, but there are usually just so many in ratio to the others.

Does anyone grow Marc Chagall in a cold zone? He has delicate, matte leaves. Maybe he would like a little shade? Does anyone know? Summersrhythm, are you planting yours in full sun?

Flower, I went there to look for Boleros. Vole killed the two I bought last year. Have to check out Walmart.. I like to have a few more. I am going to plant Marc Chagall in full sun. I have a huge vole problem here in NY, I lost a lot of roses this past winter, I thought I lost around 30-40 at first, now I keep finding more dead ones while putting wood chips in the garden. I must have an army of voles in my garden. It started a couple years ago, this year is the worst. I have to do something to get rid of this problem. Is Marc Chagall a tender rose? Not planting anymore roses in this garden, getting ready to move. All new roses are in pots. Most of them will be in PA for safety.

Dave, I bought all 7 Marc Chagall I found. I think they'd make a nice group of landscaping roses. I am going to HD to check out too. I like Maurice Utrillo , La Petit Prince too.

I think Marc Chagall will look fantastic planted en mass. Please post pics of it in the future. We absolutely need a new thread titled that. I definitely have some confessing to do :)

This will be the weekend to look for big shipments of roses since it's Mother's Day. That's always the best time to find good ones here.

Yes, Dave, I was surprised to find Peach Swirl at my grocery store, Fred Meyer (Kroger or Ralphs) and just as surprised to find Marc Chagall at Home Depot since it's a new one. I thought about Petit Prince, but think I remember Kim saying it is not a good bloomer. I might have it mixed up with another rose. My track record with lavenders isn't very good, so I passed it up. They sure were nice looking, though.

Summers, I hope you get your vole problem taken care of. I went through that a few years ago. They had a population explosion and were frolicking on the lawn and making merry in the chicken pen, eating the chicken feed. I had to stand guard while my chickens ate, then take the food away. Sounds like they're wreaking havoc in your garden. That's a lot of roses to lose.

My HD has Bolero, picked one up for myself.

You will love Bolero. I now have 3 and they are all always full of blooms.

i found two mislabelled jubilee celebrations at lowes that came in with a shipment of golden celebration. I was surprised though that the austins were priced under 20$.

Yes, Bolero is one of the best floribundas. I haven’t come across it yet but heard it was going to be available at retailers this spring.

Man, that’s great Garden Nut that they’ve priced DAs under $20 at your Lowes! They’re about $30 at my Lowes but under 20 I would have been more inclined to purchase them. On my most recent trip this past weekend, I was excited to find two labeled as Gertrude Jekyll until I noticed one was Princess Anne and the other was an odd pale apricot pink I could not identify. There were several others mislabeled. Some people (possibly most) may not care but if I’m going to pay that much for something, I want it to be labeled correctly.
