I have a cactus I bought at Trader Joes about a year ago and it has been growing a cactus pup, the adult cactus soon after started to rot so I decided it would be best to remove the baby and replant it in case I can't save the older one. I cut it off with some of the base and planted it in cactus and succulent soil. I have been waiting about a week for signs of root growth and upon doing more research learned that I should have let it callous over before planting it so I removed it this morning and went to cut it closer to the base of the pup, is what I'm seeing in this photo the growth of a root system? How should I proceed from here? It's so cute I just want it to live.
