Beautiful, Jeri! Those sure look like the blooms I have on my “Not Louise Odier-maybe Grandmother’s Hat”

I always look forward to seeing photos of Grandmother’s Hat, so I can compare them to my rose. My rose does so well, that it almost HAS to be Grandmother’s Hat. Like your true Grandmother’s Hat, it’s fine despite the awful heatwave we just had. I didn’t prune mine at all this year. I left most of the OGR’s alone, and was extremely grateful that I could do so without a problem. Mine has occasionally lost the entire first flush to balling. One pleasant side affect to the sudden dry heat (90’s), was that all the buds opened just fine. It’s that cool nighttime fog that can cause them to ball. This time the heatwave hit at the perfect time for my “Not LO-maybe GH. They all opened perfectly.

Let me see the leaves, again . . .

The weather SUX.

First, we had local rain that went on and on and on until even Grandmother's Hat had some blackspot.

Tt got very cold. THEN we got a terrible heatwave. Then it got cold. Then we had another screeching heatwave.

Now we're having a day of moderate warmth and sun (for which we are thankful) following an evening and morning of thick fog!

That last is our "old" weather . . .

Oh Jeri, that back and forth is no good. 92 F here today, after everything frazzles they predict 60s next week. I wish too the weather was more stable.

The blooms don’t look much like any of the Bourbon roses, I grow. Our weather has turned gray and you can see the foggy drizzle on the leaves. I like this much better than the horrible heat we had! Lisa

The leaves look right for GramHat ... but very prickly just sounds WRONG.
