It should. They are somewhat susceptible to late freezes but have an ability to releaf if the foliage is damaged by cold.

@gardengal48 (PNW Z8/9) Thanks, Yeah I covered it with Not plastic it was a mesh type cover my fiance covers his Nova with, so it's big and covered it well, that never happened before when I covered it, my neighbor across didn't cover his and his is fine, figures your damned if you do and damned if you don't Lol, the leaves are new growth so very soft perhaps it just felt suffocated thats what it looks like they are limp not burnt, and the weather here in pittsburgh is cold and rainy every day

It all depends on how sheltered they are and how the cold air moves through your yard. Several of mine are showing cold damage on the very top. If I stand back and look at the property as a whole I can use the damaged ones to see how the cold comes in over the large sheltering trees and settles down in the more open spaces.

And while nobody likes to look at frost damage the trees will push out new leaves if you just be patient.

It would depend on how well your covering was able to insulate the new foliage against the cold. Even the frost cloths made specifically for this purpose only provide a few degrees of protection.......generally only about 5-15.
