My Meyer Lemon tree was planted a year ago (in south FL) and since it practically only grows wider not taller, with a small short trunk and very long side branches. The problem with this is that it tends to weaken it when it is windy. What should I do, if anything? Should I prune the side branches (which will not trigger upright growth)? or do you think I should ignore it and let it grow taller at its own pace?
