it's no doubt attributable to just one line of code...but why anyone would be messing with that particular line escapes me, lol.

I just posted my grip the Houzz under “This Topic and Texas Gardening”. WhT is it with this site? As a designer I have heard horrible things about the their business methods from my community. Very controlling and devious.

KS, I actually haven't seen the "best answer" feature. Which is a good thing. It would be one more thing to be irritated about, lol. There is NO WAY for Houzz to be able to pick a best answer on the rose forums. Even the ones most-liked aren't necessarily the "best", sometimes they're just the one that gets the most sympathy, lol.

Oh, and Diane/Nanadoll...I tried to @ you, and when I typed "nanadoll", someone else entirely popped up as a suggestion. I wonder if they've given your name to someone else???? Try it yourself. Type @nanadoll, ignore the first list that pops up. Keep typing until you've got the whole thing...someone else's name shows up :(

You did it correctly; your name doesn't come up. Have you tried to change your name again under profile? Actually, it seems as if this is an entirely new account as you only have 220+ comments. Hmmmm. Where is your skeleton buried?

Vapor, no, I haven't done anything since the name change occurred. I don't want to make things worse and confuse my old brain. My name is out there, so it doesn't matter anymore. But thanks for your information. It completely baffles me. i haven't the faintest idea what the new me's password is either. Diane

I also get some, but not all, notifications from houzz sent to both nanadoll and Diane Brakefield. Those seem to be decreasing, though. The funniest were when Diane Brakefield made a comment on a thread, houzz would inform nanadoll of the comment. I don't see those as much now. Diane

@Emily Hurley I'm still seeing the wrong profile pix. On this newly refreshed page for instance, I see the photo of Sheila z8a Rogue Valley OR on the last comment from Diane Brakefield (which is another problem entirely. Diane SHOULD be showing as nanadollZ7 SWIdaho . She's had this problem for some time now. See her comments above). I'm accessing the site via the web, on updated Firefox, using WIN10.

Since we are griping ( I’m sorry fig! I don’t have the problem you have ) I don’t understand why some people’s use name is changed on the front screen but then I click the thread and it corrects . It has been doing this for years , it could actually be where cori Ann decided to leave bc something of hers popped up she wasn’t comfortable with . But here’s a screen shot , of sheilas thread , and her “name” isn’t the same . I’ve mostly learned who is who but I don’t know why it does this .

I think the best thing to do is to use fake name, and username and email with no allusion to your real name. Also don't give your real name to email account provider either esp. Since we have no privacy with gmail.

Lilyfinch I see what you are describing too with the name of OP changing when you click on thread.

I've seen that for ages, lilyfinch and figured that was the issue with Cori Anne. Does mine ever do that? I usually use a made up name and sometimes an email address just for forums, etc.

I had that happen to me -- people were seeing the name I entered that was supposedly just to set up my profile rather than the public username I designated. I almost left the forum, but I think it was Lilyfinch who helped me figure out that I could change my name in my profile so that my real name wasn't just tossed out there randomly. Sigh.

No vapor , you have always been vapor 😂. Is mine ? I have seen Moses , Paul and a few others I don’t remember exactly. Sometimes it’s a name , sometimes it’ll say some gibberish that I don’t recognize the name , so I don’t read the thread and miss out on a friend posting ! Ugh . Weird huh !

I am sooo not pleased about privacy violation issues...but I did have a bit of fun being Ingrid and Jeri during the latest glitch! Ha, ha. I think our visible info doesn't always look the same on our own computers and phones as it does on computers and phones being accessed by others on the forum. I find that completely frustrating because one never knows exactly what personal info is visible to anyone on the planet who happens to pop into HOUZZ, and one never knows when one has been exposed until other forum members point out the problem. It's rather like being in one of those dreams where you're standing in front of an audience and suddenly realize you're stark naked!

Portlandmysteryrose, everyone seems to be themselves today, lol. Now if we could keep How-uzzlezz from "outing" people.

There are so many things wrong with this site that you just have to grow a thick skin. The ONLY reason I'm back after being gone for over a year (and swearing I'd never be back...lonnnnnng story) is that it was just too hard to keep up with my friends and fellow forum members by email. NONE of the issues that caused me to leave were ever addressed by How-uzzlezz. But yes, name/personal info-security is THE most egregious failure. Even if it is "our fault" for doing/not doing something in our profile settings, it shouldn't BE THAT HARD IN THE FIRST PLACE. That puts the onus directly on the awkward set up and layout of the site, and ultimately the designers and programmers.

Don't get me started...I haven't been back for long, and this gets my BP up. Evidently my skin isn't thick enough yet, lol.
