I usually keep the door at the back open, but I love the idea of a mirror or piece of art to hang ion it when it’s shut. I’ll definitely switch out the picture on the left (I already had a fun mirror set aside for that, actually!

When you said to add a second mirror below the light switch, did you mean the light switch next to the tapestry? And I’m currently looking for a more colorful rug!

I have the mixed blue/green through the house and have tons of plants both in the house and outside. I thought the blue/green would play nice with the masculine wood. Here’s a not so amazing picture of what the yard looks like at this moment. Thank you SO MUCH again!

And as for color, everything is mainly neutrals from white to black, rust, deep teal, wood, sisal, natural materials, with bursts off different colors from art and a throw pillow here or there. Thanks again!

Thanks for the additional pic - very nice. I think a blue/green would play well with your wood tones. (Your back yard shows that off well!) Getting the right shade may be tricky since the hall doesn't get much natural light and the color will affect the lighting. Starting with the light blue may be a good idea, you could go a little darker or more teal with subsequent coats. If it were me, I might just paint the walls for the moment to see how the color plays. Then tackle the doors and the trim once you have something you like!

(Personally, I think you might want to be a little darker and more green than the F&B light blue, looking at their online pics. But you've already got the paint and it's a small space. So experiment and see how you like it!)

I meant add a second mirror where you've got a picture that you're switching out for a mirror. That would help give you more vertical line on that side of the hall to balance the tapestry.

When/if you get to the doors, you'll probably want to do some research for a good primer to use there.

Thank you so much, Doug! I agree about maybe leaning more towards a deep teal. That would make the doors easier to paint, too! I have slate blue and deep teal with pops of rust and blush through out the house for decor. I also found a more colorful rug so I may start there. Thank you so much again!

I think a darker color would look better. To add a little more interest to the doors I would add molding to the face. If you notice, the door in the inspiration photo is not flat.

So you guys, what about track lights in the hall? A grouping with mirrors on the wall in place of the tapestry? It is so much fun to put a mirror in a picture frame at head level. It's a whimsical way of adding the person in the mirror to the pics on the wall as well as light to the room. It is so much fun to use mirrors (as Doug suggested) as windows in a small space or any space for that matter to add light and openness to a room.

Thank you, Marcie! I love what you said about adding the person to the hallway. That’s the kind of sentiment that fuels my passion for design. Here is a (really bad) picture of a mirror I places there for the time being. I need to move it down and bit, but I’m looking for a larger one as we speak! I think with a more colorful rug, I may just paint all the doors white and keep it breezy? I’m still smitten with a dark hallway, though!
