The hosta pictured is Captain Kirk, definetely not Geisha.

They don't look anything alike....

Captain Kirk has a rounded leaf and a slight twist at the tip.

Geisha's claim to fame is that it is twisted, not at all flat like CK. It's longer and narrower and what I would describe as undulating. It's not at all rounded like CK. It shouldn't be hard to tell the difference. Just look them up in the hostalibrary.org. The differences are quite noticeable.

I was able to find a hosta comparison on-line and could bring up pictures of both. It does seem that Captain Kirk has rounder leaves. Everyone talks about color but that varies with the light it gets. Don't know if it matters but this bed is inundated with very fine tree roots (town Norway Maple); I did a deep edging around the bed recently.

to put a point on it ... wait for it ...

geisha is lance shaped ... longer than wide ..

and CK is spade shaped ...

see what i did there ... lol...

btw ... geisha tends to green up in summer ...

Did someone say Geisha? I got her last year and planted her in an overgrown spot so hardly noticed her at all. She came back strong this year and even weathered the frost unprotected this year. And I moved the Clematis trellis to give her some breathing room. Her she is with Chorus Girl and Full Frontal backing her up.
