Presumably it has something to do with the shadow cast by the cabin. Otherwise for comment on the identification show closer views.

That's what a friend on FB suggested after I posted this. But, why would it do it now and not the last few years? I've been here 2 years, I assume it was planted a few years before that. Do I top it to fix it? Here are some pictures of the leaves and berries.

Are you fertilizing it? Wondering if that long whippy growth is from excess fertilizer. I’ve no experience with this tree so just a wild guess.

nah, I generally don't fertilize anything one it is established.

It was fine the last 2 Summers. But, as of the last week or two, it looks like this.

thats because it finally got too tall .... and its wispy trunks cant hold it up anymore... complicated by wind.. and low light ...

probably time to shorten the longest tallest trunk down to a few inches.. and start rejuvenating the plant ... IF IT CAN BE DONE WITH THIS PLANT ...

i would also pull the mulch back from the trunks.. and make sure none of those is telephone poled ...

good on no fert .. i can thing of a shrub that 'needs' fert .. and im not talking about soil amendments ...
