Amorphophallus konjac that has rotted even after being lifted

I removed from the ground a decent size (for me) Amorphophallus konjac last year and kept it in my basement. Even though out of the ground the bottom of the tuber "bulb" has continued to slowly rot even to May. I've tried to scrape off the rotting portion during winter, but it still slowly rotted. Seems like it could still make a plant, as there is a stem point out about 3 inches. It has lost about half of it's mass but the top surface is okay.

Could it grow okay if planted? Should I consider it diseased/ infected and just throw out, start over?
