1. Macrophyllas like Bloomstruck prefer afternoon and evening shade during the summer months. They may wilt too much if it gets too hot as this makes them loose moisture faster than they can absorb more water through the roots.

2. Bloomstruck gets about 4-5' wide, which makes things a little cramped in there already. I could not tell from the picture but there seems to be ... hmmm ... about 1 foot of separation only??? not sure.

The 3 that are planted (Prob about 3ft apart), have been in the ground for 2 years already and have been growing nicely. The full sun they get is not until around 4pm on. It stays mostly dappled.

Now, maybe I think it is overkill to plant the one in the back behind the 3.

Any thoughts on taller plants to compliment the planted hydrangeas?
