I have memories of the eighties and, yes, I was raising AVs back then, but I have never heard of this variety. Is there a back story? Inquiring minds want to know.

I believe this series originated in the Pacific Northwest. Since "Storyteller" had already been used, the name "Storytella" was adopted. Mousemaid is reputed to be a pink semi-double miniature with a hint of a girl leaf.

Rosie, The Storytella AV series included 90 varieties of mini's and semi-mini's developed in the 1980's. The series name was patented. The hybridizers were two growers who later sold their nursery. It became Pacific Plant Farm and was in Washington. The names are of children's nursery rhymes or fairy tales or stories. They can be viewed on FC 2 by variety name, not series name. Other names are Tiny Tim, Little Miss Muffett, Paul Bunyan, Goldilocks, Alice in Wonderland. People collected and grew them for 15 or 20 years until the nursery had to close. At that time, local collectors tried to rescue leaves. They also tried to ask Tina of Bloomlover's to propagate some. Although she might still have some, she no longer ships to the U.S. She does not seem to answer emails.

Other varieties might be available on Etsy or eBay.

Wow! Thanks for the info Joanne. I am surprised to learn there were 90 or them. What is FC2? I am thankful I do have at least a couple of them. I will keep my eyes open on the off chance anymore cross my path! Rosie

First Class 2 is a listing of known violets whose names were submitted to the AVSA. However. They do not have to be registered with AVSA to be included. It can be found on the AVSA website. If you are not a member, maybe one of your AV pals has access to it.

I also did not know there were 90 before researching. I think fewer than that were popular.
