How do I (or do I ) trim this tree?

We just moved into this house that is beautifully landscaped. I think this tree is right next to the front door. It is about 6", mostly droopy, but has a couple of branches at the top that are sticking out straight. How do I train it so the branches don't stick out, or do I trim the branches off? From reading about this variety it sounds like they can get quite big. Given it's location that would not be a good thing. How do I keep it a manageable size?

Hi. If it's only six inches tall, it likely is not this tree. If you'd like to post a photo of it, I can probably tell you what it is, and how to prune it if necessary.

I think she is referring to the weeping blue atlas cedar. If so, place fish weights on a string to branch going in wrong direction to weigh down so it remains weeping. Hope this helps.
