Also I heard it gets really hot so did you end up getting a second glass with it?

I don't recall the series, but it's about 6'. As far as I know, there hasn't been a problem with heat, and I don't think a second glass came with it.

would you happen to have any information on the way the fireplace was designed to achieve the clearance to combustibles. I'm having a hard time getting imformation related to doing a similar installation.

what were you trying to do.? clearance to combustables should be in manual. if your building a "custom one of a kind" look in to sparkfires.com and pull a permit for a "decorative gas appliance".. all else Is design

Problem I'm finding is most of the 6 foot linear fireplaces including the Montigo need at least 12" from the top of the fireplace opening to combustable materials. The sparkfire needs even more room than that. Looking at this fireplace design the bottom of the wood paneling can't be more than 6 to 8 inches above the fireplace opening. I was just curious if some type of mantel shield was used to get the paneling so close to the fireplace opening.

don't look at the sparkfire direct vent unit look at there burners and use there idea for a box custom build. as far as woodpaneling I would think the style would clash
