Did you proof your yeast? I discarded a perfectly good bread maker because I assumed that the newly opened jar of yeast was good--it was not. For what it is worth, I love my Zojirushi.

No, I didn't proof it. Interesting. I have not thought of that since I had successfully been using the yeast from this jar. I'll have to try that - thanks.

Until you get your new machine figured.

Just made some deep dish pizza dough. It''ll get a 3 day fermentation for flavor. In the frig.

I have an older Breadman which worked flawlessly for years until it didn't. From what I could tell the gasket around the paddle had become worn and caused the paddle to rotate unevenly. I got a gently used pan off of Ebay which solved the problem. Hope that helps.

In 2000 one in five households had a bread maker, today very few people have or want one. Try goodwill, I'm sure they have plenty for a couple bucks each.
