Anyone have any idea ? I cannot figure it out

It's not any kind of clover. Looks like wintercreeper, Euonymus fortunei. Although varieties are sold as garden ornamentals, this has the potential for being an invasive species along much of the eastern half of the US.

Interesting. I looked it up and it does look the most like that!
I have a 20’ x 20’ area that has been overridden by this. I will look it up too but do you know off hand if anything will kill it without hurting my grass? I would hate to hand pull each vine!!

Manual removal - hand pulling - is really the most effective means of eradication. Like a number of other evergreen plants, the cuticle (that glossy leaf surface) resists herbicides so most are not effective and those that might be would damage the lawn as well.

I don't know if it's really the right tool for the job, but you may want to consider using a thatching rake.

We have a tenacious vine we call bindweed ( Convolvulus arvensis ). Gardengal is probably familiar with it. I have had success against bindweed using Round Up but not by spraying the leaves. Instead I took one tendril of the vine and stuck it into a bud vase with straight, 41% Round Up (knockoff) and left it there. It took a few weeks, but that little treatment killed the entire plant.

That process should work well on a fully herbaceous plant like the bindweed. But it is unlikely to have the same efficacy on a woody plant like the euonymus.
