So I have this rather big jar which up to now I had a candle in it and it was a nice piece of decoration but I got bored with it and it became very dusty. I cleaned the jar and all that and had the idea to put water plants into it without any fish, like a water plant ornament or something like that. My question is, do I need a filter for it? The only thing that should be in it is soil for the water plants, a water plant,

and maybe some aquarium driftwood or stones. I have never kept an aquarium before and I think somebody said that the plants need fish to survive, is that true? I'd be really grateful if somebody can share some advice.
