Cover that entire exterior corner of the yard/house with a roof with skylights extending the roof beyond the back exterior wall of the house at least four feet beyond the top step to create a rustic outdoor living room beside the steps. Use large stained exposed wood beams in the ceiling of the roof/shelter -- you want as high a ceiling as is possible..

Panel the walls on each side of the steps with stained treated wood and wrap the top of the left wall with treated wood as well.

Would need to see a pic from a distance to suggest a roof line but if the house is a two story house, then begin the roof just below the upstairs windows.

Depending upon what is around the corner (those steps to a deck or porch?) -- if at all possible, wrap your new outdoor living room around the corner.

Added: At the beginning just in front of the door and flat floor, you might need to use stucco for the wall because of the thickness of the wood. With wood wall, use a wood rail.
